DANIEL, 46

A senior HR professional for a global asset management firm, Daniel joined us after moving to London from Singapore for a new role within his company.

A self proclaimed food lover and brilliant cook himself (he hosted the team for a dinner at his place - it was AMAZING!), Daniel's biggest focus was doing the right type of training to support his goals and ensuring his diet was in line with what he wanted to achieve - all whilst balancing it with a (very) active social and travel life.

Q&A

What was the main goal you were looking to achieve before starting with HPT Bank?

I moved to London from Singapore in 2022 and wanted to make sure I get into a regime to get my physical health into shape. I've been a regular gym goer back in Singapore but never had a proper training program or PT. So I really wanted professional guidance on training and diet.

What made you decide to go ahead with HPT?

It was in a perfect location! The gym is located between my office and home. This also means I have no excuse of not going for training!

How did you find the first 6 weeks?

The diet was the toughest for me as I love my food! But I was focused on getting the results and so I pushed on with it. Having Jake breathing down my neck, checking in regularly also helped me to stay on track.

What made you want to stay on longer term?

I really enjoyed the format of the training - it was a good size and whilst its a group training, you can still get the coaching needed to ensure you have the right techniques.. and of course, the push at times when the going gets tough! More importantly, the trainers and of course, the big boss (and self professed good looker) Jake, made the difference. They do genuinely care about your progress and didn't feel that it was a gym that was just keen to sign up as many members as they could possibly accommodate.

What did you struggle with before that HPT has helped you improve?

Getting into a routine of regular training and also, having good dietary habits.

What tangible results have you achieved so far?

Fat loss, muscle gain and fitness level have all improved. I'm now able to lift heavier than I ever had (deadlift 150, squat 100, bench 90 to 100)

What are the intangible results you've achieved?

Overall, I feel a lot fitter and in a much better shape. Start to fill into clothes much better as well. I'm also more cautious about what I choose to eat and hence, am able to maintain my fitness level in the last two years. In fact, I think I'm currently in the best shape of my life! This was endorsed by my friends who've not seen me in some time. So, it's entirely objective! Haha

How is HPT different to things you've done before?

Going to gym on your own can be boring as I tend to do more or less the same exercises. At HPT, they switch up the routine every day and u never know what u are gonna get.. which adds to the excitement, as well as anxiety!

Anything else you'd like to say about HPT and your time training with us so far / the trainers / the studio?

After 2 years and over 160 sessions with HPT, I couldn't recommend this gym more. I'm really glad I found HPT in my 2 years here in London and I'm gonna miss having a place like this to train.

What would be your advice to someone thinking about starting training with us?

Stop thinking and start acting!
