A senior HR professional for a global asset management firm, Daniel joined us after moving to London from Singapore for a new role within his company.

A self proclaimed food lover and brilliant cook himself (he hosted the team for a dinner at his place - it was AMAZING!), Daniel's biggest focus was doing the right type of training to support his goals and ensuring his diet was in line with what he wanted to achieve - all whilst balancing it with a (very) active social and travel life.
Q&A

How did you come first come across HPT?
I walk past the studio on my way to and from work and had seen some ads for it on instagram.
What was the main goal you were looking to achieve?
I’d fallen into a bit of a rut with diet and exercise so was looking to get myself back into some good habits and ultimately lose body fat.
What made you decide to go ahead with HPT?
I had my intro session with Jake and after hearing about the support I’d get as part of the 6 week challenge and seeing the facilities I thought it seemed like a great fit.
How did you find the first 6 weeks?
There’s no getting away from it, the 6 weeks were a challenge. I was completely out of the habit of exercising so the first 2 weeks were the hardest, I couldn’t even do a push up and I was exhausted after every session! The regular touch points and informal check-ins really helped see me through those first couple of weeks. After this I started to notice changes, like being able to do more in the sessions and the number on the scales starting to come down, and this made the rest of the challenge easier.
What made you want to stay on longer term?
The sessions are challenging but enjoyable, the trainers are really friendly and the ongoing touch points with a coach keep me accountable.
What did you struggle with before that HPT has helped you improve?
I would go through phases of being really motivated and after a while that would slip again. I found that the 6 weeks was long enough to get into some good habits and then by keeping up with sessions afterward I keep those habits going. Sometimes there are slips but I know there’s always a minimum number of sessions I’ll have each week.
What tangible results have you achieved so far?
Since I started I’ve reduced by body fat by 50% and I’m feeling my fittest, possibly ever. I’ve had to buy a whole new wardrobe because I’ve dropped a t shirt size and 2 jeans sizes…but it was worth it! My goals so far have been around fat loss and I’m really excited to start working with the team on my next goal of muscle gain.
What are the intangible results you've achieved?
I feel so much more confident in myself (it’s amazing what feeling comfortable in your own clothes will do). I’ve also noticed that my mindset shift about exercise and fitness has completely changed. In the past I’d have done anything to avoid being active but now it’s part of my day to day and I feel like I’m missing something if I’m inactive for too long.
How is HPT different to things you've done before?
I’v tried doing it on my own before but could never keep myself motivated long to see it through. HPT was different because of the level of support and accountability from the trainers and others going through the programme too. Everybody in the sessions is going through something similar so there’s a very supportive vibe at the studio.
Anything else you'd like to say about HPT and your time training with us so far / the trainers / the studio?
Only that I wish I’d joined sooner!
What would be your advice to someone thinking about starting training with us?
Just do it. Book the consultation and go to see what it’s all about. It took me 2 months to get over my reluctance to book that intro but I wish I’d taken the leap sooner.
